-Is anyone really surprised that the third season of
Sherlock won't go into production until 2013? It was always going to be a long wait- Moffat, Cumberbatch, and Freeman all have huge projects right now.
-Finally got around to watching the first Ritchie movie. Meh, it was okay. I was a bit worried it would turn into some magical/supernatural AU fanfic thing, but it didn't, so that was good. I'm planning on watching the second one pretty soon. I'm looking forward to seeing Stephen Fry as Mycroft. Jude Law makes a really good Watson, but Robert Downey Jr makes a much better Tony Stark than Sherlock Holmes, imho.
Lin wrote a really good post the other day.-I don't have much faith it will be particularly good, but I am going to at least give
Elementary a chance, and I've joined the LJ com for it:
elementarycbs. Lucy Liu as Watson is... compelling (yes I have a crush), which, I'm sure, was the point. We've talked about the gender-switch being because they wanted to potentially finally let Holmes and Watson be a couple, and I think that's part of the reason, but when I really think about it, I don't think that's the whole reason. TPTB are fully aware that
Elementary is going to be competing in a heavily saturated fandom market, so they needed to find a way to make -this- version of Sherlock stand out and get people talking. Casting Lucy Liu as Watson has clearly been an efficient method of doing just that.
