Here's the thing: Rose Tyler would have followed the Doctor anywhere. And given the choice, she would have died holding the Doctor's hand rather than leave him behind, even if she had a nice, safe escape route.
And yes, if she hadn't ended up in an alternate universe with a human version of Ten, she would have had to deal with the whole, 'I am mortal, you are elfkind, it was but a dream Arwen' issue.
But I can't imagine her saying anything like, "When one is in love with an ageless god who insists on the face of a twelve year old, one does one's best to hide the damage," or "Never let him see the damage. And never ever let him see you age. He doesn't like endings."
And if she broke her wrist, she wouldn't have lied about it and then gotten mad and embarrassed because it was proof she was vulnerable and weak, she would have griped about it through gritted teeth and said, "My wrist fucking hurts, why couldn't you have been a proper medical doctor, don't you dare try to fix it with your sonic screwdriver, just take me to hospital!"
