spoilers for Downton Abbey!

Mom and I finished watching Downton Abbey on PBS last Sunday- and I have to say, I'm glad I also downloaded the original series. Editing the show for time was such a fail on PBS's part; it made the whole thing jumpy and awkward, especially since I had already watched the unedited version.

I'm split on Thomas. Rob James-Collier seems to have had a lot of fun playing such a malicious and selfish character, and it was compelling to watch him, so I'm sad Thomas is leaving. I wouldn't have wanted Thomas to be yet another tragic, tortured gay character- but it also would have been nice for him to be a little more sympathetic.

Mostly, I absolutely love Downton Abbey and can't wait for the new season.

Rec: Hourou Musuko

Hourou Musuko, or Wandering Son, is a fantastic anime/manga by Takako Shimura, centering around the lives of Shuichi Nitori and Yoshino Takatsuki- two transkids trying to figure things out and possibly falling in love. It's charming, sweet, and emotionally complex.

The anime is currently airing on Crunchyroll. There's a new episode every Thursday; non-members have to wait a week to watch the newest episode for free, however.

The manga is still running monthly in Japan, and has actually been licensed in English. Scanlations are easy to find, but I would encourage people to buy this amazing series so we can get more- and also perhaps get Shimura's other amazing series, Aoi Hana, also licensed in English. (The Aoi Hana anime is also on Crunchyroll, and I recommend watching it as well.)
